Who We Impacted: Fifty families that make up a community of approximately 300
What We Designed and Helped Implement: Pedestrian Suspension bridge to cross 35 meters across the Rio Lindo
Where We Worked: Rio Lindo, Guatemala, which is located approximately 45 minutes outside the municipality of Joyabaj in the central highlands of Guatemala
Why We Did It: During the annual rainy season, (March through early August), the Rio Lindo is prone to flooding for long periods of time. This effectively isolates the community from neighboring villages (Tzitzil, Pasaguay, and Quiacoj) as it becomes extremely dangerous, if not impossible, to cross the river to access the local school, hospital, and markets. The community contacted Mike Paddock, our partner NGO, in hopes of garnering technical assistance for the building of a bridge across the Rio Lindo.
