Our team down in Guatemala has made incredible process in bringing water to the people of Zapote. In the past few weeks water has successfully traveled more than 6 miles through mountainous terrain to the school’s tap! Our team has worked very hard to get this accomplished, and we are also thankful to the community down in Guatemala who have worked hard implementing these pipelines and bringing water to the community. Our team isn’t finished just yet, we hope to implement the remainder of the distribution system this upcoming summer. This will include 2 storage tanks and 4 distribution lines! When this is finished, more than 600 people will have access to clean, drinkable water! We are still working hard on funding the rest of this project. Our team meets weekly to discuss different ways to raise money and improve on our current project. Once completed, the Zapote Water Project will be the largest student-led project in EWB-USA’s history! We’ve come so far in the community of Zapote and we still need help to accomplish our goal. The donation process is very easy, all you have to do is click on the Zapote donation page on this very website! If you’d like to share how you are helping bring clean water to Zapote use the EWB-Guatemala’s hashtag #EWBeTheChange in your social media posts and help spread the word!
